Frequent In-N-Out customers know all too well that the popular burger chain has a “secret” menu to order from. These secret menu items don’t appear on the regular In-N-Out menu. However, customers in the know can purchase these items from all In-N-Outs around the country.
Recently, many social media users have gone viral online for talking about these secret menu items — especially as many have claimed to find “new” In-N-Out items to order.
However, In-N-Out workers — and even owners — have started to publicly refute some of these social media claims.
In-N-Out Secret Menu Lies
After one social media user claimed that they had discovered a new secret menu item, their Instagram video went viral. According to this user, customers can order the item “Monkey Style”, which is a cheeseburger with “Animal Style Fries” on top.
In this user’s post, they stated that this “Monkey Style” cheeseburger is “the best secret menu item” customers can order at In-N-Out.
Instagram users were quickly interested in the item, and the video currently has more than 4.7 million views on the social media site. However, many platform users were quick to also point out that this secret menu item actually isn’t a true menu item.
Secret menu items such as “Animal Style Fries” and “Protein Style” burgers are well known. They’re also real secret menu items. So, if you order them at any In-N-Out, the fast food restaurant will easily make it for you.
According to social media users, “Monkey Style” cheeseburgers are not real secret menu items at In-N-Out. So, if one goes into an In-N-Out and orders this supposedly secret item, they will be met with a refusal to make it.
Because of the controversy, this Instagram video quickly earned a lot of attention, as many claimed that the user was lying and creating their own menu item. Eventually, Lynsi Snyder, an In-N-Out owner, entered the picture.
Snyder left a simple comment on the video, leaving behind a raised eyebrow face, as well as a thumbs down emoji. In this easy way, Snyder completely debunked this fake menu item.
Fake Menu Items and Hacks Continue to Annoy Employees
This viral video is simply the latest frustration that many In-N-Out employees and owners have experienced in recent years. In-N-Out workers have become increasingly annoyed over people making up their own secret menu items and claiming that they’re real.
This has resulted in many customers believing that these fake items are real — and then becoming upset when they head to an In-N-Out, only to learn that they’re not.
In-N-Out isn’t the only establishment having to deal with this trend. Even places like Starbucks have had to deal with these hacks, thanks to viral social media posts.
These trends have led to more employees publicly shooting down claims of secret menu items and hacks. All of this frustration can be summed up in a comment one user left on the “Monkey Style” video.
This user wrote, “Please stop the fake info for credibility! All this does is make In-N-Out employees jobs’ more difficult.”
