MyPillow quickly became a household name for its uniue and customizable design that promises a better night’s sleep. But after a meteoric rise, the company and its founder Mike Lindell (commonly referred to as the MyPillow Guy) have been shrouded in controversy, legal woes, and business challenges.
The company has been in decline for the past few years as Lindell’s controversies mounted. Most recently, the MyPillow CEO was accused of stiffing a vendor out of $600,000, inviting a new onslaught of lawsuits. Here’s where the infomercial-famous company stands today.
MyPillow Rent Payment Lawsuit
Mike Lindell has been outspoken on his political affiliations with Trump and his election-theft conspiracies. His political openness has hurt his business immensely. According to The Independent, he was dropped by his attorneys for failing to pay their bills, was dropped by retailers who no longer wished to be associated with the entrepreneur, and was evicted from a warehouse in Minnesota for failing to pay nearly $200,000 in rent.
After evading payments to the warehouse company Extend, Inc. for months and professing blissful ignorance to the fact that he had an issue with the warehouse at all, Extend, Inc. filed a lawsuit that claimed Lindell promised payment and then disappeared.
The MyPillow rent eviction lawsuit stated, “MyPillow breached the Termination Agreement by failing to make the payments required. As a direct and proximate result of MyPillow’s breach of contract, Extend has suffered damages.”
MyPillow DHL Lawsuit
A package delivery company named DHL also filed a suit against MyPillow, claiming Lindell owes them over $800,000 in unpaid bills. The lawsuit explains that they reached a settlement in May 2023 that stated MyPillow was required to pay $775,000 within 24 months.
Lindell once again claimed that he was unaware of a legal dispute and that his company decided to stop using DHL over a shipments dispute that was the fault of the package delivery company.
Mike Lindell Files Lawsuit Against Lenders
Even more recently, Lindell filed his own lawsuit alleging that lenders used “loan sharking” tactics to exploit his business. Lindell’s legal team is seeking to nullify the agreement between lenders and Lindell as Lindell claims he is “out of funds”.
The lawsuit is ongoing but it appears that Lindell is in dire need of the funds as MyPillow’s financial strain has only grown in recent years, largely due to his outspoken political affiliations.
