Kevin Roberts, the President of the Heritage Foundation and therefore one of the main leaders of Project 2025, has suggested that a “second American Revolution” will occur if a Republican president wins the White House this November.
Roberts also insinuated that this so-called revolution wouldn’t be violent — but only if the left does what they say.
What Is Project 2025?
Roberts’ organization the Heritage Foundation is pushing Project 2025, a gameplan that would be enacted if the GOP’s presumed nominee, former President Donald Trump, wins the White House come November.
This project offers a map for Trump’s administration on what they should do to ensure many conservative and hard right policies will successfully be pushed through under his term.
Dismantling the Federal Government
This project has many ideas and plans about what Trump and his allies should do if they win. Major parts of Project 2025 include dismantling parts of the federal government.
Other aspects of this plan detail how Trump’s administration can fire and oust thousands of civil servants in Washington, replacing them with Trump loyalists who will do what he says.
A Different Trump Term
If Trump truly follows the guidelines given to him by Roberts through Project 2025, then his possible second term would be completely different than his first.
Some hard-right supporters of Trump feel that he wasn’t able to enact much of his agenda during his first term, as they say civil servants refused to carry out his orders. Therefore, this plan would ensure this wouldn’t happen again.
A Second American Revolution?
Roberts’ latest comments came as he was a guest on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast. As Bannon is currently in prison serving his fourth-month term, U.S. Representative Dave Brat was the guest host in this episode with Roberts.
During their conversation, Roberts explained that the country will be in the midst of a “second American Revolution” if Trump successfully wins.
A Non-Violent Revolution
Roberts then assured listeners — to some degree — that this revolution wouldn’t be violent in any way. Instead, it would be bloodless — but only “if the left allows it to be.”
Many critics of Roberts, as well as various Democrats, have already come out to claim that these comments seem to be very thinly veiled threats about what many hard-right Republicans have in mind come January, if Trump wins.
Roberts Calls Out Democrats
While speaking of this supposed revolution, Roberts also claimed that Democrats are “apoplectic right now” because conservatives are winning.
He said, “And so I come full circle on this response and just want to encourage you with some substance that we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”
Roberts’ New Comments
After this podcast, Roberts released a statement further clarifying what he meant — and doubling down on his calls for a revolution.
According to Roberts, Americans “are in the process of carrying out the Second American Revolution to take power back from the elites and despotic bureaucrats.”
Calling the Left Violent
In this newly released statement, Roberts also took the time to claim that the Right aren’t the violent ones. He says the Left is.
“These patriots are committed to peaceful revolution at the ballot box,” Roberts said. “Unfortunately, it’s the Left that has a long history of violence, so it’s up to them to allow a peaceful transfer of power.”
Applauding the Supreme Court
On Bannon’s podcast, Roberts also applauded the latest Supreme Court ruling, which gives presidents full immunity from prosecution for official acts. For unofficial acts, they can be prosecuted.
Many have criticized the Supreme Court for this decision, as they believe it gives complete, almost king-like authority to the president of the United States.
A Vital Decision
Roberts has called this court decision “vital”, as it successfully ensures that Trump won’t have to second guess his every move while he’s president.
He said that a president won’t have to “second guess, triple guess every decision they’re making in their official capacity.”
Critics Call Out Roberts
Many experts have already called out Roberts on these latest comments, including Heidi Beirich, the co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism.
“Roberts, the Heritage Foundation, and its allies in Project 2025 want to reorder American society and fundamentally change it,” Beirich explained. “He’s said the quiet part out loud.”
