The campaign of former President Donald Trump lashed out against the group behind the conservative plan Project 2025, issuing a foreboding warning to anyone who tries to link him to the contentious document.
“It will not end well for you,” the campaign said in a release on Tuesday.
Dans Steps Down
Trump’s campaign put out the announcement minutes after Paul Dans, the overseer of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project at moderate research organization The Heritage Foundation, reported he would step down from the group in August.
His departure comes in the midst of increased scrutiny by former President Donald Trump and his campaign, as per The Wall Street Journal
Trump Campaign Response
The Trump Campaign stated in a release: “President Trump’s campaign has been very clear for over a year that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign, did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the President in any way.”
“Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign— it will not end well for you.”
Trump’s Ally
Dans had been an ally of Trump, serving in the previous president’s administration as chief of staff at the U.S.Office of Personnel Management and as the organization’s White House liaison.
As per the group, in 2021, Trump selected Dans to act as chair of the National Capital Planning Commission.
Campaign Contributions
Trump received over $16,000 this election cycle, over $6,000 in 2020, and almost $2,000 in 2016 from employees of The Heritage Foundation.
The greater part of the commitments made during this cycle came by and by from Dans.
Dans Statement
According to Dans in a statement regarding his stepping down: “It has been a great honor to work with you on this endeavor, and it is my fervent wish, as my namesake St. Paul encourages us, that you not grow weary in doing good.”
“[F]or that out of our efforts, our nation will one day reap a great harvest. Fight! Fight! Fight!”
Continued Plans
Dans continued by stating that work on Project 2025 is “winding down.”
However the organization’s remaining members will continue to put the plan and its recommendations in a position to assist the “new Conservative Administration in November.”
Trump Association
Trump had repudiated Project 2025, however many high ranking representatives and political counselors who worked under his administration and some who are at present engaged with his campaign have contributed to the plan.
In a prior statement on his social media platform, Trump expressed, “Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”
“Extremist and Dystopian”
Trump added, “I disagree with some of the things they’re saying, and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.”
From that point forward, analysis has mounted against the plan considered “extremist, “authoritarian” and even “dystopian,” by leftists and other people who go against it.
Harris Criticism
The presumed Democratic nominee vice president, Kamala Harris, has repeatedly criticized Project 2025 and warned voters that Trump would implement it.
While discussing the contentious conservative plan at a recent event, Harris stated, “There is so much at stake this November, our most fundamental freedoms.”
Project Aims
Among different initiatives, Project 2025 requests an “overhaul” of the Department of Justice and would end FBI endeavors to end misinformation.
It would instruct the Pentagon to “abolish” diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives while reassigning members of the armed forces who had been discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine.
Reversals and Restrictions
On abortion, Project 2025 calls for confining the system through a cap on mail request pills and punishing suppliers.
Other medical services administrations and social administrations like Medicaid and Social Security would be downsized and privatized.
Additionally all of the Biden administration’s environmental change policies would be reversed.
